1. Introduction
This privacy policy applies to The AI Breakdown website at theaibreakdown.com and the podcast content made available through it. We aim to handle information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include in your message.
2.2 Website analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page visits and website performance. Cloudflare states that this service does not collect or use visitors' personal data. It collects limited performance and usage measurements through a browser beacon.
2.3 Podcast listening
The embedded Podbean player is supplied by Podbean. When it loads, your browser connects to Podbean. Podbean may process technical, device, usage, location and podcast listening information under its own privacy policy.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- respond to questions and feedback;
- understand whether the website is working well;
- improve the website and podcast; and
- meet legal obligations.
4. Legal basis for processing
Where UK data protection law applies, we rely on legitimate interests to operate and improve the website, consent where you choose to contact us, and legal obligation where the law requires processing.
6. Third-party services
The website uses or links to:
- Cloudflare for hosting, security and privacy-conscious analytics;
- Podbean for podcast hosting, the embedded player and listening analytics;
- Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Music for podcast distribution; and
- LinkedIn as Andy Dumbell's professional profile.
These services have their own privacy information. In particular, Podbean acts as a data controller for listeners and visitors using its services.
7. Data retention
We keep email correspondence only for as long as it is useful for the purpose it was sent or needed to meet a legal obligation. Messages are normally retained for up to three years unless there is a reason to keep them for longer. Third-party providers set their own retention periods.
8. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal data, to object to processing and to receive portable data.
To exercise a right relating to information we control, email hello@theaibreakdown.com. Requests about information controlled by Podbean or another platform should be sent to that provider.
9. Data security
We use a static website, encrypted connections, restricted source access and browser security controls to reduce risk. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. International transfers
Cloudflare, Podbean and other linked services may process information outside the UK. Each provider is responsible for the safeguards it uses for international transfers. Podbean describes its use of contractual safeguards in its privacy policy.
12. Children's privacy
The website and podcast are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
13. Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this policy when the website, podcast services or legal requirements change. The date at the top records the latest revision.
14. Contact information
For questions about this policy or how we handle information, email hello@theaibreakdown.com.
15. Supervisory authority
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you believe personal information has not been handled properly. Visit ico.org.uk for details.
